Highlanders loose forward Gareth Evans picked up the whistle on Saturday, controlling the Under 13 game between Taieri and Dunedin at Kettle Park.

Evans reached out to the ORRA to see if there was a way he could help out on a Saturday morning during the Super Rugby test break, and we were more than happy to have him along as a special guest. The kids instantly recognised the giant Highlander and were visibly delighted to have someone of his calibre and status to control the match.

Evans said of the game “It was good fun and the kids were great”.

Well done and thank you Gareth! Future career move??
