Adam Morrison or “Morri” to most, is Otago’s leading referee. Adam is a long serving member of our association who has selflessly given his time and effort to rugby in Otago for many years. His list of achievements is mighty in both number and magnitude, but it is his work as a friend, colleague and all round good bloke that makes Morri such a special character.

Three Premier finals (2012,2015,2016), Jock Hobbs National U19 Final in 2015, World 7’s tournaments, first class fixtures… let’s sit down with Adam and see what he thinks of it all…

Why do you referee?

Seriously, have you seen the video of me playing? Isn’t it obvious!

Favourite referee moment?

There are many moments when, on reflection, I am humbled by the opportunities I get – Refereeing First Class rugby and travelling the country; Premier Finals, Topp Cup fixtures; Being a match official for All Blacks tests including attending the players’ after match function, I have had some great times in refereeing.

Most admired referee?

Jim Thomson – long retired from active refereeing, for all his flaws when he was refereeing, he does a great job promoting Otago referees

Favourite food?

A hot pot with Chris Hart, or a Velvet Burger with Stu Curran
